Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Players on a team work together to secure and defend control points on a map or escort a payload across the map in a limited amount of time.
1. Tank
2. support
3. DPS ( Damage Per Second)
In total there are 8 tanks, 17 DPS, and 7 support heroes. Tank heroes eat up all the damage from the enemy, fortify positions/chokepoints, and usually lead the way during a fight as they have more health as compared to other heroes.
Other heroes have 200 hp (health point) while the health of tanks can be as much as 600 hp! Dps heroes are the primary damage dealers of the team, they have a wide range of abilities and have very strong ultimate abilities which can even wipe the entire enemy team if used wisely. Many heroes are even used to flank the enemy team and get a few picks at the start of the game to help the team push forward.
Heroes like mccree or widowmaker which requires really good aim you can obliterate the enemy team in a matter of seconds! Although dps heroes might look fierce however they are quite fragile if you get focused by the enemy team as they cannot heal themselves and are purely dependant upon the healers of the team.
Support heroes empower their allies by healing, shielding, boosting damage, and disabling the enemy. As a support you will be the backbone of your team's survival and the team is of no use without you. During a fight the main objective in everyones mind is to wipe out the enemy teams support heroes, as soon as they are dead there is a 99% chance that your team will lose the fight. Take Mercy, for example, a support hero which can turn the entire fight around by using her revive ability!
Once you open overwatch you will have a variety of game modes to choose from. First is the practice range where you can go and learn other heroes' abilities and just keep shooting bots to help improve your aim or to warm up before going into a competitive match.
Second is quickplay which is one of the chill game modes where you can play for fun, learn playing new heroes or help get your noob friend a win!
Third is an arcade in which there are many different kinds of game-modes like 1v1 mystery duel in which you and a random opponent go into a 1v1 with a random hero, another one is mystery heroes which is like a normal game but with random heroes given randomly to everyone. Usually in quickplay or comp there cant be more than 1 same hero per team but if you play the no limits game mode in the arcade you can even have for eg 6 genjis in one team!
Finally last but not least the competitive mode which is the serious mode of overwatch, once you click on competitive you will have to choose of either picking a support, tanks or dps. They have recently added this new system so that there will be 2 support, 2 dps and 2 tanks per team to ensure a fair and healthy battle and also to reduce the amount of toxicity, the only downside is that everyone mostly wants to play dps and because of that it can take as long as 10 minutes to find a game as a dps while if you pick tank or support you can find a game in less than 5 minutes.
Once you start competitive mode you will have to play 5 placement matches for each class, once you are done with placements you will get your skill rating (SR) and you can get an avg of 25-50 SR per win in competitive mode.
Also by winning a match, you gain competitive points which you can spend by buying a golden weapon for your favorite hero and to show opponents how good you are! The lowest skill rating tier in overwatch is bronze ( 0-1500 Sr) and highest is grandmaster (4000+ SR) while the average tier is platinum (2500-2599 SR) there are a total of 7 skill rating tiers in overwatch: bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, master and then finally grandmaster.
Also there are in-game leaderboards of every region known as the top 500, people in that tier are the top best players in the region! Also by leveling up you get loot boxes in which you can get skins, emotes, and many other cool cosmetic items for your favorite hero!
Thats about it of overwatch, its currently costs 20 dollars on battle.net which we think is a very reasonable price also blizzard has announced the release of overwatch 2 which who knows might be free or might even be more than 20 dollars but one thing is for sure that overwatch 2 is going to be free for people who already have overwatch! Happy gaming!
